MN SNAP

On Tuesday, July 18, Dr. Lisa McCargar performed MN SNAP's 100,000th surgery at our headquarters in North Minneapolis. Weighing in at 11.2 pounds, Remington the puppy was neutered at 12:45 p.m., which was 7 years, 2 months and 28 days after our very first surgery!

As you can imagine, MN SNAP has gone through an astronomical number of surgical supplies to reach this incredible milestone. Here's a short list of what we regularly need to purchase to help Minnesota pets and their families.

  • anesthesia medication
  • artificial tears
  • autoclave indicator strips
  • clipper and scalpel blades
  • distilled water
  • endotracheal tubes
  • gauze
  • instrument lube and disinfectant
  • IV fluids
  • microchips
  • needles
  • pain and anti-nausea medication
  • paper towels
  • surgical gloves, drape and gowns
  • suture
  • syringes
  • thermometer covers
  • vaccinations

STATS

The problem is real.

Every year, more than three million animals are euthanized in shelters in the United States — a quarter million animals per month, 8,333 per day, 347 per hour and six per minute.

The solution is spay/neuter.

Spaying and neutering is the single most effective way of reducing animal suffering due to pet overpopulation. With your financial support, MN SNAP can continue to provide sterilization surgeries at a rate of more than 17,000 per year!
